Firstly I drew my walk cycle in pencil then scanned it into flash. Then I use it as a template to draw my walk cycle on the Apple Mac. I then added colour to the walk cycle. Lastly I recorded my own footsteps and put then into the animation to make it more realistic.

From this I have learnt how to make an animation in flash and how to edit it. I now know how to use tools in flash as well.
This is useful because when I do other units on animation I will know exactly what to do and also it will help me in the future doing this animation unit because I would like to be an animator.

The walk cycle was successful in most ways such as the coloring of the animation and the sound but the smoothness of the walk could be improved. I could improve the smoothness of the walk by adding some more frames so it’s not so jerky.

Overall I think my walk cycle was good for my first one even though there is room for improvement.

Computer animation is were you use a program such as flash and make figures and then edit them and use bitmap to create the animation

Sand animation is were instead of drawing pictures you get sand on a peace of glass and move the sand around and use stop motion photography

time-lapse photography is were u fix a camera somewhere and make it camera take photos with a fixed time apart and the put them together in a film.

zoetrope

In 1834 William Horner invented the zoetrope in England. It wasn’t popular in till the 1860s. The zoetrope work by drawing on a strip of paper which could be put in the bottom of the zoetrope and spinning the zoetrope and looking throw holes in the side of the zoetrope and it would appear the drawing was moving

In 1900 James Blagden released the enchanted drawing the film feathered James Blagden drawing a man then appearing to interact with him. This was made with stop frame animation in which the camera is stop a change is made and the camera is started again from this James Blagden got an ideal for a new kind of film one made completely of drawings the result was humorous phases funny faces made with stop motion photography this is where you draw something stop the camera make a change then start the camera again. Even though he lost interest in animation he inspired many others.

Amgun them Amil Cole, Amil Cole made Fantasmagorie it was the first film made from just animation it was made up of 700 drawings on rice paper each one was double exposed to make the running time longer. After fasmanjory he made the man on the moon. Even though he was good at animation he died unknown it wasn’t in till the late 1960s he was recognised as one of the founding fathers of animation.

Winsor McCay mad 3d animation, he made the story of a mosquito this was the first 3d animation he’s films were very high quality because of this he didn’t make as many films as other animators.

John Randoth Greg a comic strip artist found a better to make animation he used Zink etching to print out identical backgrounds on tracing paper he left spaces to draw in the moving elements saving tracing time the first product of this was the artist dream released in 1910.

Bray brought out a new way to make animation easier it was called cell. Using a earl form of transparent plastic sheets which were the layered. Characters and backgrounds were draw on and photographed.

Animation is a graphic representation of drawings to show movement within those drawings.  A series of drawings are linked together and usually photographed by a camera. Pioneers of animation include Winsor McCay of the United States and Emile Cohl and Georges Melies of France.  Some consider McCay's Sinking of the Lusitania from 1918 as the first animated feature film.
     Early animati
ons, which started appearing before 1910, consisted of simple drawings photographed one at a time.  It was extremely slow  as there were literally hundreds of drawings per minute of film.  The development of celluloid around 1913 quickly made animation easier to manage.  Instead of numerous drawings, the animator now could make a complex background and/or foreground and sandwich moving characters in between several other pieces of celluloid, which is transparent except for where drawings are painted on it.  This made it unnecessary to repeatedly draw the background as it remained static and only the characters moved.  It also created an illusion of depth, especially if foreground elements were placed in the frames.
Walt Disney took animation to a new level.  He was the first animator to add sound to his movie cartoons with the premiere of Steamboat Willie in 1928.  In 1937, he produced the first full-length animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
With the introduction of computers, animation took on a whole new meaning.  Many feature films of today had animation incorporated into them for special effects.  Toy Story, produced by Walt Disney Productions and Pixar Animation Studios, became the first full length feature film animated entirely on computers when it was released in 1995.
With the advent of personal computers, it has now become possible for the average person to create animations.
